Mini-Courses

These are two hour long courses that explore a subject in-depth.  Students are mixed in multi-grade groups to provide opportunities for students to gain self-knowledge as they interact with older and younger peers.  Topics are chosen by the teachers to complement classroom curriculum and coordinated by the Mini-Course Committee. Recent PACE at Woodmoor mini-courses have delved into forensics, economics, health and nutrition, art and music from around the world, chemical reactions and secret formulas with students making toothpaste and glue, as well as exploring holidays like Lunar New Year and Cinco de Mayo.

Activities & Clubs

PACE-sponsored optional, multi-age after school activities that vary based on our families interests. In the past, we have had math tutoring, chess club, cooking class, etiquette class, mask making, science projects and other fun or studious subjects. These activities/clubs have an additional fee to pay for supplies or instructors.

Outdoor Education Day

This is an all-day, outdoor, educational experience involving all students, teachers and many parents in Environmental Education. Classes are led by professionals, teachers and parents, who have expertise in one of the planned activities.  Students engage in and discover outdoors activities ranging from orienteering and geo-caching, studying local wildlife & plant life to building bird or bat houses and outdoor cooking.  Parents serve as chaperones for small groups of mixed age/grade students. Outdoor Education Day takes place every other year.  Next planned Outdoor Education is in September 2022-2023 school year.

Drama/Musical Presentation

PACE at Woodmoor students and families collaborate on a drama/musical presentation every other year.  This is an optional after school activity for students of all ages at an additional cost. Previous presentations include We’re Having a Ball, The Wizard of Oz, Oliver Twist, Willy Wonka, the Little Mermaid, the Lion King Junior, and Moana Junior.  The next presentation is scheduled in the 2023-2024 school year.

Summer Reading Program

The summer reading program encourages Woodmoor PACE children to continue to read over the summer months while they are out of school. The program has followed the King County Library Summer Reading Program over the last few years.
